NAKASERO PADEL CENTER

THE INSPIRATION
The inspiration for the project comes from the dual nature of padel itself—fast, social, and inclusive. The design reflects this by creating an open, lively environment where sport energizes the surrounding commercial spaces. Contemporary African urban architecture informs the concept, with clean lines, light-filled courtyards, and terraces that encourage interaction. The courts are positioned as the focal point, surrounded by viewing galleries, cafés, and shaded areas, making the experience accessible not only to players but also to families, spectators, and professionals meeting in the commercial spaces. Sustainability and adaptability are central, with emphasis on natural ventilation, energy-efficient lighting, and the use of local materials that give the project a strong sense of place.
THE RESULT
The result will be a destination that redefines how sport and commerce intersect in Kampala. For athletes, it provides professional-standard padel courts and training facilities. For the business community, it offers offices, retail outlets, and meeting spaces that thrive on the energy generated by the sport. For the public, it becomes a lifestyle destination—where sport, shopping, dining, and social interaction converge. In the long run, the center will not only introduce padel as a mainstream sport in Uganda but also strengthen Nakasero’s position as a commercial and cultural hotspot.
